Jon Kaletka is a third year PhD student at Michigan State in the department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics working with Dr. Jonathan Hardy. He is broadly interested in host-pathogen interactions, and his current project focuses on how infection with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes alters the production of extracellular vesicles, a novel communication method utilized throughout the body. He is originally from Mount Horeb, Wisconsin and received a B.S. in microbiology from University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied the mechanism of actin polymerization by intracellular Listeria. Outside of lab, Jon is interested in science communications, where he appeared on SciFiles and has volunteered at a number of science outreach events.
